Top Student Discounts You Shouldn’t Miss

I know that I’m going to miss out on lots of perks, such as free items and discounts after I graduate. You don’t necessarily appreciate student discount till its gone. Most retailers today offer some sort of student discount, whether that be 10% off or a free item. It’s always worth checking to see if you are eligible for student discount whenever you purchase a product. Below are a few places I have used student discount and some which I hadn’t heard of before that might be of some use to you.

Apple Music

Apple Music is a great platform for those of you who enjoy listening to music. Offering over 45 million songs available both on and offline, it is no surprise that the streaming service is so popular. The best part is that students are eligible for a discounted membership fee of £4.99 a month instead of the usual individual rate of £9.99! The service offers a free 3-month trial so you can decide whether it is for you or not. Click the link above to try it.

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is another great service offering so much more than you’d think! Free unlimited one-day delivery on items across Amazon makes your ordering so much more enjoyable, knowing that you don’t have to wait long for your item/items. The platform also offers Prime Video, Music, Books and Magazines to all users where you can have access to all your entertainment needs. Also, Prime members have the opportunity to access ‘lightning deals’, half an hour before non-prime customers so you might be able to get a great bargain. Amazon also offers a Student Prime Membership plan at £3.99 a month instead of £7.99 with a SIX MONTH FREE TRIAL, I repeat, six months! Just to put that into perspective, the standard Amazon Prime free trial is only 30 days.  Follow the link above to sign up for your discounted membership plan.

Spotify

I honestly couldn’t live without Spotify, I listen to it everyday. I’ve also, as requested by my boyfriend Chris, listened to my very first podcast via the service. Oh how my opinion has changed. I initially though podcasts were an older generation trend but they’re actually really enjoyable. I’m currently listening to Jenna Kutcher’s Goldigger postcast for female entrepreneurs and businesswomen, which I would highly recommend. Anyway I’m going off topic. Spotify is great to listen to on your laptop, in the car and through a speaker. The best thing about it is that the company currently offers a premium student membership for £4.99 instead of £9.99, with a free 30 day trial. I will be sad to pay £9.99 a month but I will not hesitate to do so because it is so worth it!

Adobe Creative Cloud

Now I’m quite annoyed with myself that I’ve just discovered this student membership plan because it’s a great deal. Adobe Creative Cloud is a service which includes 20+ creative desktop and mobile apps, including some great software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Now Adobe is offering students all this at £16.24 a month instead of the usual price of £49.94, how good of a deal is that? Had I downloaded it, I would have developed skills that would benefit my CV.

The places below also offer the following:

These places are subject to whether you have an NUS Extra Card, UNiDAYS Account or an International Student Identity Card (ISIC). It is also worth noting that these discount rates are tailored to the UK and might be different in other countries, so always check the store.

Student Discount Events

There is usually an event during Freshers throughout the UK called ‘The Student Lock-In‘ where high street retailers offer exclusive student discount for the event, with a load of freebies. Check out the website for more information on when the event is coming to your area.

Throughout the year, many retailers offer a day/week or even monthly student discount event. It’s always good to check for these events because the discount rates are usually more than at other time in the year.

Anyway, I hope that you utilise the student discount perks whilst you can because trust me, uni goes quicker than you would expect. Happy shopping!
